But he's trying to work on loseing weight with gaining muscle like I am. I rememberd reading something called a ckd diet, and was asking what is it? Might tell him to try that...but, I can't find anything on the net about a ckd diet.
To be honest, if I were you I wouldn't recommend anything that you haven't personally tried or had experience with. Kinda like the blind leading the blind

It's really quite simple...You won't need a hundred T-Nation articles to give him advice...It's as simple as expending more calories than he consumes for weight loss. There are programs that do both like the UD2.0, but you have to have a lot of experience in knowing your body and what it can handle. I would put him on a simple 5 day split like you're doing (since he's new, he'll grow using it), and limit calories. Diet should be high in protein (whole foods), and limit carbs. Wha-La!
