This is an acronym I learned in the Corps: KISS-
Keep It Simple Stupid. It's all according to Murphy's Law, which is, whatever you think will go according to plan, won't.

Trust me, the women will be talking about the actual wedding, not how you proposed. The only real criteria is romantic, bent on one knee, and eye contact. I also recommend some wine in the mix because it'll loosen the two of you up a bit, making it less awkward. Another must is a familiar place the two of you feel more comfortable in. If you decide to take her somewhere you never been to before, you'd better go scout it out for a few days. You never know. It's better than asking for directions or standing on the sidewalk trying to find something to do. When I got engaged, I took my wife to a little scenic town in CA that was tucked away from everything. Jullian, CA. It's surrounded by mountains, and is not in the least bit "modern". Bet your A$$ I scoped it out twice before I brought her!! (btw, 2 hour drive through the mountains) When I brought her I was able to give her an unbelievable time because I knew what was going on, where to go, ect. We stayed in a bed and breakfast that was pretty expensive, but elegant and most importantly private.
