You bring up very good points and I understand your perspective.
Each of us have our own vulnerabilities, mine is my emotions. I will not go to deep into this issue, but it is comparable to training with a minor injury. When focused, my only concern is lifting weights and lifting heavy and I will not accommodate any emotions. That way, I am able to give it my full effort.
If I find my self distracted, and allow my mind to wander, my motivation will also wander off.
IMO Mastering both mind and body well help strengthen my entire being.
