I got switched to day shift and ran into a similiar problem. I don't get back from the gym until around 8 pm. My routine is to basically drink my postworkout protein shake, then one hour later I have two choices.. It's either cottage cheese or egg whites. Something with slow assimilation of protein because after that meal, I'm hitting the rack. Ideally, I hopefully wake up in the nighttime and down another protein drink, but since I wake up at 3 am, I'm good to go regardless.
I do the same thing hitting the gym in the morning as well. Postworkout protein, then an hour later cottage cheese or eggs. Shortly thereafter is when I begin my massive eating regieme albiet red meat, poultry, or tuna.
