I was thinking what would be better would be doing something like "pulses" since you're into that kind of thing.
I know 0311 is doing some pulses in his DC training and I'm not sure exactly what he is doing but what I am talking about is doing something very similar to what you are doing now except you would actually move the weight up and down in a very short range of motions, i.e. a couple of inches during the "hold". Then you can follow it all with a long static if you want. If the iso holds hurt you, then this method should severly kick your ass.
Incidentally CT says the iso holds recruit more motor units than a dynamic movement. ???
