I think that's great. I do recognize that even if your grip was strong, there would still be times when you MIGHT find the weight outstrips it. For instance if you were to incorporate the power shrugs that 0311 described the much higer weight may require some help but if you liked the exercise and it worked for you then by all means use straps. Just don't be dependant on them. It's like using a cane when your not blind...
