One that milk article I would like to point out a couple of things. One is it was only nine males cyclists. Two..."they cycled until their muscles were depleted of energy the RESTED 4 HOURS, during which time they drand chocalate milk, Endurox, or gatorade. The chocalate milk performed ABOUT as good as gatorade, according to the article. The study to me just isn’t appropriate as it simply doesn’t take into account the way sports drinks are actually used.

There is a big difference between sipping on something like gatorade in the middle of an edurance event or a long athletic event and resting for 4 hours during which time even a serving of oatmeal would have worked well! Same thing with Michael Phelps drinking Carnation between races. Olympic swimmers don't jump from one race to another without down time.

Gatorade has a lot of it’s carbs as fructose, not necessarily a bad thing but fructose only replenishes liver glycogen. But as someone who's played hard in the sun and worked hard in the sun I can tell you sipping on chocalate milk is the last thing most people want to do. I'll go for the gatorade. Also, I don’t think a lot of people are “gatorade intolerant” but so many people have some degree of lactose intolerance it’s not funny. Not that I don’t drink a lot of milk..as 0311 says it keeps the skinny away. But I think it’s a LOT more refreshing than chocolate milk and will put you back in the game a lot faster. Hell try a waxy maize product. I think ChinPiece Dave can attest to how well this works during an athletic event.

On the water vs. sports drinks there are practical reasons why water is not always best. But I am talking about prolonged endurance events or long athletic events in general. The reason I'm saying all this is we have to take into account the way in which these things are used and were meant to be used. Comparing everything together is jsut not appropriate and fair.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
