your Cortisol levels will not be that high to where your muscles are just going to eat themselves up. As long as you don't do cardio on a completely empty stomach, doing HIIT will not cause massive muscle catabolism. Just make sure you have some sort of post workout meal after you do cardio.

What is your workout routine? By that, I mean weight training.
