Well you know there are plenty of supplement companies that just don't give a shit and will sell anything that people will buy. But if can understand about the powder and will give a guess about why they may just not know.
As far as the powder goes you can get away with it just not in these huge bulk quantities. That's one reason it's sold is for people who want to take huuuge amounts of it. Totallly unecessary amounts, imo. You can get one dose foil lined packets, btw, but that defeats the economics.
But in an ideal circumstance ascorbic acid as a crystal is going to be very stable. Then you disolve it in water and the clock is ticking because it begins to go very quickly. So this leads people to believe that it'll just last until they mix it. But the problem is every time you open it it absorbs moisture (it attracts moisture), is exposed to light, etc. and there you go. If it's stored in a hot place it'll go faster. There's simply no way you can use a large amount of it before the rest goes bad no matter how careful you are.
But you take a well meaning guy who owns a sup company and he looks up the stabibility of ascorbic acid crystals. He'll probalby get something like "stabile under normal conditions". What it doesn't say is that "normal conditions" are in a sealed airtight container in a cool dry place. And if trueprotein is shipping it in plastic bags....
It's understandable sometimes and my stratagy is to seek info from as many different types of sources on ANY sup so I can protect myself from wasting money. Hopefully I don't sound like the Cliff Claven of "outside the box" sups, though
