I do limited cardio when I really wanna bulk because my metabolism is a bitch sometimes. I still say cardio should be included for cardiovascular health but it depends on your short-term goals.
If you're trying to cut rapidly, then I would suggest high protein, moderate carbs and reduced fat. Reason being is because you're trying to put on muscle and reduce fat (which is fuckin near impossible btw), and you need protein and carbs for muscle growth. If you shoot your cardio through the roof then your muscle will suffer without adequate adjustments in your diet.
I would look at HIIT training articles (don't know if there is a sticky) and the "How to Cut" and "How to Bulk" Stickies
