I would think that someone who lost 5 kilos in two weeks coming off a routine the last thing they should do is go on a cutting diet. Cutting should be planned carefully so as to maintain strength and hopefully maintain mass...not just a sort of piece meal thing that you do during a period of recovery. During those periods, assuming you need them, it's possible that you might put on some mass "after the fact".

I'm not saying one needs be on a "bulking diet" but just that after a period of stress deciding to try to lose fat for a couple of weeks could simply be selling you body short the things it needs to recover. So while you may not be taking in the same calories as you do while active, I don't think you should be going below maintenance either.
