Depends on what's in it. Basically the only fast absorbing protien that I know of is whey. In terms of carbs it's simple or high GI carbs like dextrose, maltodextrin, waxy maize starch and other polymers. The dilution of the shake also affects things. Any thing other than those things I listed will slow down the absorption. Casein, soy, fats, milk. But a liquid shake is going to absorb faster than solids for the most part.
As far as BSN it's overpriced and overhyped, IMO.
