HMB has been shown to really only be effective in new lifters. For some reason and don't quote me on this, it seems to have little to no effect on people that are advanced lifters and supplement users. I took it back in the day when it cost like $2 a day in betagen and the like and I never had an extraordinary gains from it. Creatine on the other hand is a must. I have recently started using CEE, mostly in either Cre Ethyl Thunder or the designer supps version. I don't think any type of creatine really has much advantage over another, loading phases never have to be followed to a tee anyway. The only thing to watch for in the regular creatine monohydrate is the bloating that some people get. I did. Although many swear by it and won't use anything but. Best bet is to try a few and find what works best. Maybe combine a few types. Never hurt to overdose by a gram or two anyway.
