Sure it does, bro. Just having muscle "burns" off more energy. This doesn't mean that anyone with a lot of muscle will be cut but the more muscle you have the more fat you burn on a daily basis. If your are going to look at the Rippletoe 3x5 and the 5x5 then do the 3x5 first. Don't go straight to an intermediate strength program without even trying a beginners. Always go for the fastest most efficient progression possible. That would be the 3x5 in this case.
