Default Help with legs please squats and leg press

Ok im I think i am doing something wrong. When I squat I feel absolutly nothing untill I get upward 300lb. I do weight 325lb my self but im not sure I am doing it right. Also I have a prohibitor, back problems run in my family, narrow spine, so along with that i have a weak core. I really cant do much more then 400 because of this. First is this common for people not to feel muscle reaction in their legs untill that kind of weight? Also how can I strenthen my core so that I can reach weights higher.

Now also in leg press there is no core problems so I can get alot more weights on there, like today I did 800lbx8<<dehydration kicked in and I couldnt go anymore. But anyways I know leg press doesnt replace squats but i was wondering if with added exercises could it do the same??? And if so what other lifts would this be.

also another question off subject would Novedex XT be best used during cycle or off cycle? just wondering

P.S. I think this is the right section just picked one that looked right.
