New forum member here.

been reading for a few days and we seem to have some highly knowlegable individuals in this community. would like some feedback on my current activities in the gym.. let me know what you think what im doing right or what im doing wrong.

I've been training for over 20 years. sometimes very discipline and intense.. sometimes... not so much. ive been huge...ive been fat..and ive been thin but have never had that shredded physique. proper nutrition is a major weakness in my training.

over 40, 6ft 195. i would like to achieve more of a ripped look while preseving my muscle.

i retired from football at age 37, have arthritis in my left shoulder and have had some lower back and knee surgeries.

im in the gym almost everyday. but i mix it up. some days i will do only one body part. somedays ill combine body parts. i mix it up to prevent boredom. i never liked the word "routine" my lift generally last 45 mins. pretty intense, 4-5 exercises, 4 sets per exercise, reps between 12-6 descending while increasing weight.
i.e.

Mon-chest
tues-back
wed-legs
thr-shoulders
fri- just cardio
sat bi and tri
sun-legs
mon- just cardio
tue -back and bi
wed -chest and tri
thr-legs
fri-just cardio
sat-shoulders

i do cardio for 20-30 mins post-lift everyday unless im bored or in a rush.

i never work a body part within two days of each other. Ive given up on power. my bench is terrible (literally embarassing) as are most of my power excercises with the exception of squat...and i cant get real low for i have knee issues.

as for nutrition im keeping my carbs relatively low eating 4-5 times a day. high protein. consuming protein shakes, chicken, egg beaters.

i know it was long and thanks for reading..let me know what you think.
