^^ Agreed. If you're going to take the advice of a doctor, make sure the doctor is an expert in THAT field. A general family doctor will not be well versed in the field of bodybuilding (usually). If you want advice on protein intake and its effects or something to do with a sport, you need to talk to someone in sports medicine or some field where they deal with that on a regular basis.

I've had doctors tell me that deadlifting is the worse thing for your back (as well as trainers and physiotherapists believe it or not), but what they mostly see are the people blowing discs in their back because of improper form and basically stupidity.

BTW, stating the function of the kidneys does not speak towards the claim of kidney damage. You would have to provide a study stating the cause of kidney damage due to excess protein intake among weightlifters and athletes.
