Yeah, I agree. That's why I was saying I myself would only use them for heavy squatting where the ankles were most vulnerable. Face it, this isn't a rehabilatative routine. Especially after a surgery. So while you want to rehab and stabilize meanwhile you don't want to injur due to going too heavy too fast. But the squats aren't that heavy yet so it may all be a non-issue.
