Default Protein vs Calories

I was wondering what takes precedence over one another. Recently I've monitoring my intake for both. Ive been hitting my target protein intake which is around 300-350g/day, but I noticed my calories on some days are only 3000-3500. Should i be upping my cals? Used to hit around 4000+ but due to new schedule it hasn't been the same.
