Yeah thats something that often gets overlooked when people start lifting is learning the right form to begin with. I've never had to many friends that lifted so i was in the dark a few years ago.
If at all possible, find a buddy whos been lifting for awhile and take him to the gym with you to, #1 make sure your doing the lifts correctly, #2 be there to spot you, and #3 answer any questions you might have. Or just ask someone at the gym for some quick help. Most guys that arent asses will be more than happy to lend you a hand when they get a chance. Good luck
