Like everybody said, it's just getting over the hurtle of self confidence. I find if you just don't care about what people think and just be yourself, fun and have fun, like IK said, girls will find that attractive. If it always seems like you want a girlfriend, girls might put up a guard and not be as friendly. Also, your going to be 17, it's high school, don't worry about it. You have probably been around the same people forever and they've known you for many years which can be hard to break molds that high schoolers put on you. If you decide to go to college, you can start all over with a clean slate and meet tons of new people make new friends.
