Keep at it.

Try jump chins with a long negative.

The way I got better at them was this:

Do 1 pull up. Then 2. Then 3. All the way until you can't get any more. Then do 1 less than the max you just did, all the way back down to 1.

Like this: 1, 2, 3, 2, 1.

You can do pull downs, too, but don't use them as a substitute.
