I've never found any research saying that it will matter one way or the other. just remember that you dont have to be super strict with it, if you are eating a protien/fat meal for instance, and you want to eat some cottage cheese, there is no reason not to, even if it has some carbs in it.

that being said, I've had great results splitting the two, durring both cutting and bulking phases.
