I dislike doing squats and deads the same day because it kills my lower back. It may not be a big deal if you start off light with both of them, but once you get up in wieghts, whatever movement you do second will suffer.

I would suggest starting off light, and doing decent volume to get used to it, either on the same day or not. Then as you increase adjust the volume down, and when you get to the point where your hindered for the second movment because of fatique, switch it up so they arent on the same day.
