I think if you trained for it you would do very well in powerlifting. I know you said your deads are not where you want them, but you can definitely bring them up.

I feel the same with you regarding going for a 1-rep max being a waste of a workout. I love going heavy, but stay with the triples or doubles (on a bad day).
