Well for a home pulley it costs a lot to get something past the standard high-low pulley. But that in itelf is a very highly useful thing to have. I use mine a LOT. It's just a simple bodysolid unit with high/low pulley and takes standard or olympic weight plates rather than a stack (I'd reccomend not going with a stack). It wasn't much money at all and it really holds together well.

Attaching the bands shouldn't be any real problem. Yes, the rack. Some weights on the floor. Or you use your own body like your feet or your back (for instance band pushups you just put the band around your back). They are not going to pull things over that easily.

I like the iron woody bands and I get mine from http://liftinglarge.com which is a little bit better price than any other place I've found and the shipping is very quick. The other brand that is widely used is the JumpStretch brand (JS). I've never used them but I chose against them because the weight ranges don't overlap like the IW bands. These bands are not just a straight band but they come in a loop. Basically a giant rubber band. So that you can use them for powerlfting type things and for basic band things. The continuous loop makes them very easy to use.

I'm sure the bodylastic bands are very useful as well but they seem like they would be difficult to use for anything other than just band resistance training. Again, though, they look cool.

Maybe other people will check in with what they have used/experienced. Really, your imagination is the only limit to them.
