It doesn't matter how many trainers don't suck when there is such a misinformed public. So that is the purpose of me posting things like this. People assume that certification is a sign of qualification and professionalism. Until there is better standardization and the term 'certification' means the same in the personal training industry as it does in others (not to mention those professions that require licensing) the ones that "don't suck" will be in the minority.

Education is equally important, if not more so, as experience. But even a bachelor's doesn't automatically mean someone is truly qualified. People have to research and ask questions and never assume that any piece of paper is a guarantee. Even one that has degree written on it.

Labor statistics in 2006 cited 235,000 "fitness trainers". That would include personal trainers, aerobic instructors, and instructors in group settings. That number would be much higher now. You can probably figure at least 100,000 "personal trainers" in the U.S. How many do you think have ANY education among those? Let alone SPECIFIC education in the proper areas?
There are hundreds of certifying "organisations" out there. There is not much difference between a one day and 4 days, imo.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
