Sounds smart to me. I think you'll be better off doing something like SS. HST can be good too. I know some people aren't fans of it. I shouldn't have been doing it when I did it, and I only did it for about 2 months anyway, I think. So I don't have too much to say about it. You can do SS forever. Granted you will probably need to make some changes along the way, but it's one of those programs that you should be able to gain from for a long time...a few years. It's a fad to change routines every few weeks or months. Focus on SS if that's what you're going to do.
