From what I understand, it contributes to a speedier recovery, and enhanced muscle mass during the breakdown-and-rebuild period. I like to take mine right after a WO, to give my body the energy it craves. About 1/2 hr before a WO, would probably be a good idea, also, to give you energy during the WO. I have seen creatine @ Wal-Mart for I wanna say about $10 for 2 Lbs. Wal-Mart also carries Glutamine, BCAAs, and other 'not-so-useful' supplements. I would only buy the BCAAs, and maybe Glutamine. The other 'pump' this and that stuff, I've heard is real junk.
