Here is pretty much what I consider to be my staples:

Whey Protein
BCAA's
Creatine
Fish Oil (or other EFA sources)
Multivitamin

I think a lot of people get really carried away with supplements especially when they first start out because they buy into all the marketing hype. Everything above though has a proven track record of benefits.
