Default Squats are killing me...

I'm doing three or four sets of 10 reps. and I get so out of breath and my heart rate skyrockets to the point where I feel like I could have a heart attack and die!

Are squats supposed to be like this? Am I training too hard, if that's possible, or am I just overweight and way way way out of shape?
