I think you're basing alot of this on the fact that you are an advanced lifter. I almost guarantee you that he is not. And "weights for dummies" is pretty much what every beginner needs if you ask me. When you start out you really have no idea what you're doing (or most people anyways) so if you have a simple plan to follow while you learn about all of the ins and outs of lifting then all the better I say.
And as for disagreeing with me on everything. Well, I guess thats good. It brings up some good discussions and people saying WHY they are saying what they are saying instead of just saying it and not backing it up. So thanks for that. No hard feelings here.
