Running on Non-workout days isn't hard on the muscles. It actually helps to recover from soreness (if you're sore) by sending oxygen to the muscles. Also, if you run first, you wear yourself down a good bit. Then, you can't give it your all when you lift. If you feel shaky, that may be because your body isn't used to lifting first? But, if you prefer to run/do cardio before weights, they say to wait about 1/2 hour, I believe.
