I think that depends on how advanced you are. Some VERY advanced guys will need back offs in intensity as well as some way of managing volume.

What's interesting is that he say's his maxes shot up despite the fact that he was not really working according to his true max.

What you have to ask is why? For him...backing off from his max may be just what the doctor ordered. Call it a sort of deload. But for you it may not be necessary or desirable.

I, personally, wouldn't recommend undershooting your "max" that much working with a waved, percentage based program. But you really don't know what will happen until you do it. D might have a better informed opinion on this, though. It wouldn't work for me, I know.

I see that D was posting at the same time as me. I will point out that he is more advanced than I am at this point
