IMO ,The best thing for your knees is to squat. Just don't go heavy.
Over a year ago now I messed up my knee , bad, playing baseball. I was on crutches for a month and it took longer than that before I could even bend my knee. The only rehab I did was Leg Presses , Squats and Extensions. Now I'm squatting 500.
It takes time to heal , but you will have strong knees if you squat.
