I think they both have there place . You will be able to lift more weight with half or partial squats.

I was listening to a pod cast about this today - the one guy is almost 6'6 and he says that partial squats are better for taller guys or atleast for him. ( now I have to go back and listen to his reason why )

Just like anything - EVERYTHING has it's place.
