This kind a thing has potential to bite you in the ass AFTER you've done the 5x5. Whether you add more volume as in hypertrophy work or move on to purer strength work.

I know longer recommend the whole "milk it for everything it is worth" approach, because, in my esperience with the 5x5 methods (and I have a LOT) that approach is making it worth just a bit more than it gives back. If not a whole lot more.

Use it until you are stale and move on! For the stage you are at is is good. But don't try to make it more than it is. And always remember that anytime that volume and counting reps, takes a back seat to quality (and intensity) there is a good oppurtunity for bad movement patterns to creep in.

And that is it for the "fatherly" advice .

Good luck on it!
Thanks for the fatherly advice Eric very much appreciated
You say be careful with the pressing as not to overload the shoulders, so would it be a good idea to alternate pressing with benching weekly?
Also when its time to move on (when im stale) what would you reccomend?
Thanks
