You're right, Doo, the concept is about a metaballic "setpoint" and not "programming".
Yeah, there is something to that. I've posted on it and I'll try to dig something up.
The idea is that this can be changed but it does not change suddenly or just because of one meal or one day.
For instance, people seem to think that one day with less food will suddenly slow down your metabolism in general. Which is just not reality.
While genetic programming is not what we're talking about I do think that realizing that your body does have a certain homestatic setpoint right now is not as much of an excuse but is actually an empowerment. It empowers you to realize that you have to change your lifestyle and not just look for a quick fix because if you want to "reset" that setpoint..it will take slow and steady commitment.
