i'm not sure of your reasoning for doing a program like that but i doubt you'll get much of anything from it. now when you say a single, do you mean a one rep max attempt or 1 rep with your 3 rep max, or 5 rep max, etc, etc.

and i'd venture to say anyone who needs a week off from 3 reps has dire conditioning issues but this is the kind mind set Mentzer's theory has perpetrated. He never addressed the concept of conditioning and instead treated muscle growth as if it lived in a vacum completely independent of all the other factors that come into play while working a program. If a trainee isnt growing the simple pat answer that HD gives you is that you're "overtrained" and need to reduce volume and/or frequency and that's it. Mike completely ignored establshed exercise science and instead substituted the shit espoused in the Weider mags as the basis for his "scientific" analyses, thereby avoiding any comparisions with the fitness/fatigue issue, DF theory, periodization and the dozens of other valid scientific concepts regarding weight training.

yeah Mike's thoughts were interesting but ultimately he was way off base on the whole damn thing.
