Smile Started lifting because I'd rather be a fat powerlifter than a fat non-lifter

Hi to everyone out there.

Here's the thing with me: I'm 25 years old, 5'3", 275, and I'm pretty fat. Now, certain parts of me (because of my ridiculous lack of height or long-time heaviness) are muscular buuuut some parts aren't and I'd like to fix that. My ultimate goal isn't really to lose weight - I'm pretty cool with being a fat guy, it's being fat without the muscle to back it up I want to change. Not really training for any specific discipline (I'm a writer not an athlete) but I'm thinking general strength training is more for me. I took a couple classes before on weight training but never got to finish them, but I'm trying to get back into it and get committed.

My end goal is to go from just plain chubby to chunky, maybe hitting 300 by adding muscle, not fat. Do you guys have any suggestions for a guy like me who wants to get big and strong but not necessarily cut?
