Crunches and situps are inherently evil because they put your lumbar into flexion, loaded flexion is not good for your back. This is why you're back is feeling so sore.
My advice is to stop immediately, you will only do more damage by continuing. Pick another exercise that does not involve flexion of the lumbar (lower back). There are plenty of them out there.
