If something feels tight, such that it restricts your motion, then maybe try stretching that out after your workout.

Wide IS stronger. You reduce the ROM and get the glutes/hams in it more.

The hips don't have an infinite range of motion, you might not be able to physically go down further at that stance. Can you feel your hip joints restricting movement or any type of discomfort?
