Default Training Question

So i have bursitis in my right shoulder and 7 herniated discs in my back. I find that when i do most upper body work, specifically back and shoulder work, it is mostly my traps that are being activated rather than the muscle group im working for.

Does anybody have any tips on how to deactivate my traps? I try to keep my shoulders back and down but i can always feel my traps burning when im doing the reps. I have also tried switching over to resistance bands, moving through the exercise slower, etc etc to deactivate them but it never really does much.

Thanks
