Well I originally started weights to gain upper body strength because I am training for the Army, but kind of got addicted lol. I want to gain muscle, but being "cut" isn't a huge deal to me, so long as I'm not "flabby".

So probably, muscle gain. The reason I'm looking to cut down is that at my height, my weight would make me appear un healthy with the stupid BMI calculator the military uses for applicants (surprisingly enough most athletes would be overweight), and even with big muscle gains; pull ups, running, and other body weight exersizes are still going to be harder for me if I'm heavier than I need to be

Basically I want bulk muscle gain, but also to cut down to an average level of body fat. While I'm here, would it be fair to say I will be better off leaving my running training (for army) until I get to a "cutting down" stage, so that I lose fat faster and gain fitness, as apposed to trying to gain muscle AND lose fat?
