Well if you're just looking for motivation type advice then I'd say to look for some very specific performance related goals that you can get excited about and that will be fun to do.

The thing about "getting strong" and "getting big" is that they are not events. You will never have a day where you reach those goals. There is always "getting stronger" and "getting bigger".

It's the same thing with fat loss. Too many people look at losing weight like a specific event. It's not. It's a long term process. Same with strength training and bodybuilding training.

So if your only "goals" are not actually something that you will ever have concrete milestones with you then it is very difficult to stay motivated long term.

But if you are always setting new performance related goals that you can get excited about it helps you sustain things. Then a side effect is "getting stronger" and "getting bigger".

Nobody is going to give you a trophy someday for doing this. If you are not finding any intrinsic value in it from day to day then eventually you can go the way that most trainees do.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
