Lots of things that cause pain will give you an endorphine rush. This is going to sound macabre but have you heard about people who are very depressed and messed up mentally who engage in "cutting"? They do that precisely because the pain causes a "release". The endorphines make them feel better.

You wouldn't do that thinking it will help your lifting performance, would you?

If you actually eat habenero's you are a bad ass mofo, though. I wouldn't be working out anytime soon after eating one. I wouldn't be able to see, lol.

But ask yourself whether there is a difference between any self-infliction of pain that causes an endorphine/adrenaline rush and eating peppers.

The other question is what does "lifting hard" mean? If it's about many reps really fast where you don't really care about performance and precision then maybe a 'rush' would be fine.

But if it is about lifting maximally or doing technical lifts where you need focus and precision then a 'rush' will not necessarily improve your performance and may well impair it. You could essentially be 'over-aroused'.

If you act sanctimonious I will just list out your logical fallacies until you get pissed off and spew blasphemous remarks.
