I use ConsumerLab as well and it's true that VitaminWorld always does well but really so do most of the common brands.

The costco brand is Kirkland and Kirkland has always done fine. The most recent report had kirkland failing because of the enteric coating (to keep it from dissolving in the stomach so as to cut down on fishy burps and heartburn) but as far as labels claims and content they've always been a good brand.

Same thing with many common "drug store" or grocery store brands. Sundown etc...they all do fine.

Walmart may not always have the same brands but I think they carry one or more of the brands like Sundown and maybe Nature's Sunshine or Nature's Bounty? I'm not sure but those brands do well too.

From BJ's, another wholesale club you get Berkley and Jenson (what BJ stands for) and they always do well.

Puritans Pride as well. CVS brand. Tons. In fact pretty much all brands these days score well as far as contamination and label claims and freshness.

This time they had 52 products. 29 of them, according to consumerlab asked to have their product tested and the rest were chosen.

Also note that some of these products come from the same manufacturer and are simply sold under different brand names. For instance, I think one of Vitamins World's products can also be found under the Sundown name, which you may find on your grocery store shelf.

Out of all these there were only two that failed. One of those was a pet product and pet products always tend to be among the one's failing. The quality just isn't there for pet related products.

The other one was the Kirkland product because of the enteric coating. Now, I'm not defending kirkland here because if you are going to put on a coating it should serve the purpose you clam it does, but most of the products don't have coatings and in the past I've noticed a LOT of enteric coatings failing. This is because there is because CL's standards for dissolve time are different than the manufactures and CL's uses UL standards I think. In other words, "according to their own standards" their coatings are fine, lol.

Anyway, there is no reason to believe that any common retail brand is better than most others based on CL reports but I will say that in the past there was a wider gap between certain brands and others but for the last few years the market has been very even. I agree with EK though I would avoid the "deals" and I never by one thousand caps at a time. 250 to 300 so I can take them before they are rancid.

PS. GNC did fine as well, lol. But they still suck.
