That is true. IT works for me too. I have noticed that doing stairs is even better than running and it getts your heartbeat up very quick.
Also to warm up, in addition to quads, I through some boxing punches, they have the same effect as the quads to the upper body, bies, tries, delts, etc.
I do about 10 minutes, until I break a sweat.
