My understanding is that the body will burn roughly equal amounts of fats/proteins in ketoacidosis. Keep your protein high so it burns fats you already have. Consume at least the RDA of fats with essential micronutrients (e.g. flax seed oil, fish oils) so you don't create a toxic imbalance.

Consume enough calories so your body does not think food is scarce in your environment and begins to horde calories and conserve energy.

There are essential fats and essential oils and even essential amino acids(e.g. protein) but a noticeable absence of essential carbohydrates. Think about that.
