Default Need Help!!! Can't lift weights!!!!!!

Hi all-
Had surgery and cant lift weights for at least another 6 weeks...only can do cardio (which does nothing for me).
Any recommendations for supplements to help get and keep the weight off??
Have gained 5 pounds already and am NOT happy about it.
:-)
Thanks.

Post your diet. That's what will decide whether you gain/lose weight.

I dont follow a specific diet rather just eat healthy.
Fruit/Yogurt or Cereal in the morning
Salad with Chicken for lunch
Brown rice with Veggies with Chicken or Salmon for dinner.
Snack of nuts/berries or protein bars.
Never needed to follow a diet while I was able to work out since I did such intensive lifting.
NOT HAPPY not being able to lift weights!!!!

Agreed. You need to adjust your diet somewhat since your activity level has recently changed and there are a lot of people on the site who can give really good advice about diet. Good luck.

What was your surgery for?

Typically with post-op nutrition, you want to eat at maintenance, if not a little over. Depending on the type of surgery, you may need some extra nutrients just to ensure proper healing/recovery.

A little weight gain may be inevitable. But if you're only out for 6 weeks, then it will come back off easily.

What you're going to have to do is to find your maintenance calories. After you have done that, keep track of your calories using fitday.com. If you read the stickies in the fatloss forum, that will help a lot. Most of your food choices are good. Just be careful with the protein bars...they typically have a lot of high GI carbs.
